Who We Are
FindABed was built by Austin Archer, whose family owns and operates two licensed AFC homes in Livingston County, Michigan. After watching social workers spend hours on the phone trying to find available beds for patients ready for discharge, we built the tool we wished existed.
We are not a referral agency. We do not charge social workers. We do not take kickbacks from providers. We built a neutral marketplace because the placement process was broken and we had a front-row seat to exactly how.

What We Do
FindABed is a two-sided marketplace connecting social workers, hospital discharge planners, and case managers with licensed care facilities — including adult foster care homes, assisted living facilities, memory care, skilled nursing, hospice, sober living, group homes, veterans housing, and more.
Providers update their bed availability directly. Social workers search, filter by care type, insurance, and geography, and send referrals without a phone call. FindABed is free forever for social workers.
How Availability Stays Current
A bed directory is only worth as much as the freshness of its data, so we are deliberate about where our numbers come from and how long we stand behind them.
Providers who opt in get one text a week, Monday morning, asking how many beds are open. Replying takes a few seconds — a number, or YES if nothing has changed. If we do not hear back, we send a single follow-up on Thursday and then leave it alone. Updating beds in the dashboard counts exactly the same as replying, so no one is ever required to use text messaging to stay listed.
If nobody has confirmed a bed in 14 days, we stop showing it as available. The listing stays up; only the availability claim expires. We would rather show a social worker fewer beds than send them toward one that was filled a month ago. At 17 days without a confirmation we send one last text letting the provider know we are pausing their check-ins, and then we stop texting.
Social workers can opt into their own alerts, which fire when a bed matching their saved criteria opens. Full detail on every message we send, and every reply we understand, is on our support page.
Why We're Different
Search ranking is never paid
Every provider appears in search results based on relevance and availability — not who paid for placement. This is a founding principle and will not change.
Built by operators
We run AFC homes. We know what providers need to manage census, and what social workers need to place patients quickly. The product reflects that.
HIPAA-aware by design
Client records are visible only to the social worker who created them and the provider receiving a specific referral. We apply minimum necessary standards throughout.
Our Mission
“Connect every Michigan patient with the right care setting — faster and transparently.”
